I have been going here since before I was born. I love the family owned restaurant. The food is great and you get great portions for affordable great price!

It's been 6 months since I've been a regular at Jade palace, and returning today after an injury that kept me from visiting, it's like I never left. I work at the library across the street and I'm so happy I found Jade palace so long ago! It's become a staple for an afternoon meal and on cold days like today wonton soup always warms me up well! Phil and his staff are amazing, I go there A LOT so it's so nice that he remembers my name when I pick up my order and he's like that with everyone! I don't think I've ever not seen him with an ear to ear smile! This is a great homey place to stop on in and get a big meal or a quick bite, and tell him Veronica from the library sent you!

Small hole in the wall in Newark, and I'm glad I stopped by! The guy who I was assuming was the owner was super friendly and welcoming, along with the chef. I was craving noodles and got the beef chow mein with crab wontons for an appetizer. They serve the noodles pan fried or crispy, and the chef advised me that pan fried was the way to go and he was right, it was pretty good! The crab wontons are really good, it was heavy on the cream cheese but I prefer it that way so I really enjoyed it. The servings were reasonable for the price, and by taking a quick look at the menu it seems that everything was fairly priced. I ordered takeout and my meal came with a generous side of sweet and sour sauce, along with soy sauce, a packet of green tea, and 2 fortune cookies. Over all, a very solid and enjoyable experience if you want a quick but more authentic Chinese experience.

Sorry my office people and myself got to go food from here and none of us liked it. My chicken was supposed to be spicy   Not at all. The egg rolls were greasy and brown inside   Another person had the pepper steak and said it was the worse ever. Honestly there was nothing that we had that we enjoyed and the amounts of food they give don't equal how much they charged. Those typical 3 compartment styrofoam containers, well one was empty the other small one had the main dish and the other big one was half rice. Sweet and sour soup or whatever it's called was not good.  Won't be back for sure

I have been a very happy customer for about 25 years now!  My 30 year old son always heads to Jade Palace when in town. He has even made a special 2 hour drive to show his girlfriend "what good Chinese food tastes like".  They are the only Chinese restaurant in the East Bay (and I tried many) that will make crispy noodles for the Chow Mein on request.  I can honestly say I have never been disappointed with food or service. Family operated I believe because it's been the same warm friendly staff all these years. I saw some reviewers mentioned "greasy" items, but the foods they mentioned are fried. And I have never had an egg roll from anywhere that wasn't somewhat greasy. I think they are a hidden jewel of Newark. And if you want to try something delicious, try a couple of my families fav's;  Chicken Chow Mein with crispy noodles and orange chicken. Hope you enjoy as much as my family does.
